The owners of this stunning and unusual home wanted a creative lighting design scheme as part of a wider residential refurbishment.
In keeping with our philosophy that “good lighting is about the space rather than the light fittings”, we deliberately kept visible luminaires to a minimum: we knew they’d cause the rooms to feel much smaller and more claustrophobic due to the low, concrete ceilings.
Instead we worked closely with the architects to integrate soft, ambient LED lights into troughs and niches in the floors, walls and joinery. The rooms felt “painted with light”, and much more bright and spacious as a result.
For accent and feature lighting, we opted for a combination of fluorescent and incandescent lamps, plus a bespoke fibreoptic chandelier hung from the barrel-vaulted ceiling of the main foyer.
