Global Consultancy Workplace, Amsterdam

Community Spirit

Fostering a strong sense of culture was central to this Amsterdam-based workplace, where every space is uniquely conceived. After all, how many offices can claim to house an ideation area centred around an illuminated tree and a collaboration space anchored by a giant multi-coloured screen?

Our role was to shape the mood and character of the experience, injecting energy into the creative areas to encourage interaction and play, while creating a calmer ambience across the social spaces to allow for more relaxed moments of connection.

Ramping up the atmosphere was the intent in the digital pantry, so we brought the space to life with dynamic RGBW lighting. A large backlit fabric screen stretches along one wall, displaying coloured effects and digital content with precise pixel control. Nearby, a circular light installation wraps around the staircase, adding an extra layer of playfulness.

Upstairs, a natural palette sets the tone in the environmentally themed pantry. Here, we adopted a more minimalist lighting language, using discreet lines of light and low-hanging pendants, the latter repurposed from the previous scheme.

Our brief also extended to a double-height atrium, a space people gravitate towards for lunch and informal meetings. As floor-to-ceiling glazing floods this area with daylight, we integrated light within the architecture and balanced illumination levels throughout. Suspended track systems also allow the lighting to be adjusted when the space is used for events.

In the ideation area, we took inspiration from the feature tree at its centre, designed to encourage bold thinking. Graphic lines of light were concealed within the ceiling and central column, and strands of pendant lights were suspended around the tree canopy to reinforce its role as an energising focal point.
