Arq By The Leela is a luxury private members’ club, designed to attract a discerning crowd with a shared appreciation for culture and art. An unapologetically bold design narrative plays out across the interiors, so it was our role to reveal the intricacy of the materials – blue marbles, Calcutta gold and brass panels – while making every space feel intentionally soft and refined.
Layers of decorative lighting immediately invite members into the warmth of the reception where they are led past a central water feature made from Udaipur Green and Tiger Onyx. Spotlights concealed within the stone emphasise the movement of the water, adding a gentle, luminous quality to the sculptural lines of the fountain.
Along the corridors, accents of light pick out the artworks, embossed brass panels and handcrafted details of the artefacts. Picture lights frame key points of interest, and concealed lighting within the display cabinets draws people into the cultural storytelling.
As encouraging conversation and relaxation was key in the café lounge, warming hues of light emanate from the ceiling, walls and central coffee bar. These layers of light also reveal the beautiful craftsmanship of the scheme, highlighting the proportions of the coffer ceiling and adding depth to the bespoke, handcrafted bevelled glass tiles below.
The impact of the lighting is felt in the main bar, where mood and contrast really help to soften the vast space. Accents of light also accentuate the stage, bar and tables in the evening, when the setting becomes more intimate for cultural conversations, panel discussions and performances.
