Luxury furniture, considered lighting and a divine crypt
Clerkenwell Design Week is on the approach and we’re chuffed to announce that this year we’ll be collaborating with British furniture designers and makers, Michael Northcroft.
On show will be Michael Northcroft’s complete Serafina collection alongside pieces by Jan Cavelle. To ensure the exhibition enters the limelight, we’ll be using our specialist lighting knowledge to illuminate the venue and designs, in partnership with our sister company, Nulty Bespoke, who is creating customised luminaires for the quirky location.
The Crypt, which lies beneath St John Clerkenwell, is where we’ll be taking up residence. A tranquil retreat from busy London streets, the venue is a magnificent example of its period, graced with “Romanesque and Gothic arches, memorial plaques, beautiful glass and fascinating tomb effigies”. It offers a great opportunity for us to get creative with our lighting design skills – we can already picture an ethereal wash of light across the Norman walls.
Gearing up for the festival, we took ourselves down to the creative quarter this week, for our first site visit. The Crypt oozes character and when coupled with the furniture, which boasts exclusive finishes, luxurious detail and expert manufacturing techniques, bodes for a first-rate exhibition. The lighting scheme (including the bespoke luminaires) will work with the interior, subtly emphasising the historic architecture and elegant designer furniture. It will also add ambience and drama – exactly what’s needed to bring the event to life.
Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, so we’re thrilled to partner with Michael Northcroft. And with Clerkenwell being home to more creative businesses and architects (per square mile) than anywhere else on the planet, we can’t wait to work alongside fellow creatives at London’s most coveted design festival.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for further information on this exciting collaboration.
