The excitement and “thinking on your feet” experience of creating a lighting design scheme for a pop-up event is like no other. Mix that with a cult British fashion label and we’re sold.
We helped Red or Dead celebrate their big 3-0 in an anniversary event at The Dray Walk Gallery, Old Truman Brewery by installing a lighting scheme that focused on the goods, showcased the hip venue and created that extra bit of pizzazz. The exhibition had never been seen before and highlighted key moments from the retail brand’s history through the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s – needless to say, it was a pretty special event for the brand.
A flexible lighting scheme meant the exhibits were centre stage and the gallery’s raw, industrial architecture highlighted. We did this by painting the walls with light, carefully positioning downlights on displays and using long fluorescent battens to mix things up and add a certain “edge”.
Typical of temporary events like this, the lighting solution was designed so it could be easily installed within a 24-hour period, but wouldn’t sacrifice the detail required to reflect the unique personality of the fashion brand, and their 30th anniversary celebrations.
Happy Birthday Red or Dead!
A special thank you to Atrium and Lumenpulse for the loan of light fittings.
