With a background in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, which she studied and graduated with honours, Gulen began her career directly in lighting design. She gained experience at two lighting consultancy studios in Istanbul, working on diverse projects ranging from large-scale international ventures like stadiums to smaller-scale interiors such as restaurants and villas.
Her passion for lighting design began in university, where she often imagined how lighting could transform spaces. After completing a lighting design course, she landed her first job post-graduation. To Gulen, light is a transformative element that brings spaces to life, evokes emotions, and reveals their true essence. Her dream project would have been working on Gaudí’s unfinished Colonia Güell.
Outside of work, Gulen is all about embracing the fun side of life! Soaking up the sun, swimming, and listening to the sea, she’s also a nature lover who enjoys spending time outdoors, and when she’s not out exploring, you can find her strumming her guitar—she’s been playing for over 15 years! Gulen’s hobbies keep her balanced and inspired, fuelling both her creative and laid-back sides.
